This page explains what information we collect when you use beyondthekasbah.com, contact us about a journey, or communicate with us through WhatsApp or email. We have tried to keep this as clear and honest as possible — it is not written to obscure what we do, it is written to explain it plainly.

Beyond the Kasbah is operated by Taoufiq — a private driver/guide based in Rissani, Morocco, specialising in private Sahara journeys. This is a small, owner-operated business. When you contact us, you are communicating directly with Taoufiq, not a team or a company with departments.


1. Information you send us

When you make a travel enquiry — by email or via WhatsApp — you may share:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number or WhatsApp number
  • Travel dates or a travel window
  • Group size and composition (adults, children, ages)
  • Journey preferences, budget range, and special requests
  • Any other information you choose to include in your message

We only receive this information because you chose to send it. We do not collect it passively or pull it from other sources.

2. How we use this information

We use the information you send solely for planning and communicating about your journey:

  • To reply to your enquiry and answer your questions
  • To prepare a route proposal and price quote for your specific trip
  • To confirm booking details, accommodation, and logistics
  • To send you information relevant to your journey before and during travel
  • To follow up if we have not heard back and you expressed interest in booking

We do not sell your information. We do not pass it to marketing companies. We do not use it to send you newsletters or promotional emails unless you have specifically asked to hear from us.

3. WhatsApp communication

Many enquiries and bookings are handled through WhatsApp. When you message us on WhatsApp, your messages are received and read by Taoufiq directly. WhatsApp is operated by Meta (formerly Facebook) and subject to their own terms and privacy policy. We have no control over how Meta processes data that passes through their platform. If you are concerned about WhatsApp privacy, email is an alternative — see below.

WhatsApp conversations are kept as a record of our planning correspondence. We do not share the contents of your WhatsApp messages with third parties except where directly needed to organise your journey (for example, passing your arrival date to an accommodation provider).

4. Email communication

Emails sent to hello@beyondthekasbah.com are received by Taoufiq and kept as a correspondence record. We use email to answer enquiries, send route proposals, confirm bookings, and follow up as needed. Your email is processed through a trusted third-party email hosting provider. We do not use your email address for marketing purposes.

5. Contact and enquiry methods

The primary contact methods for this website are WhatsApp and email. WhatsApp messages go directly to Taoufiq. Email enquiries go to hello@beyondthekasbah.com. Both are handled personally — not by an automated system. If a contact form is added to this website in future, this section will be updated to name the form provider used.

6. Analytics and tracking

We do not currently use analytics tools on this website. No Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or similar tracking scripts are installed. If analytics are added in future, this policy will be updated before they are activated.

7. Cookies

This website uses a cookie consent banner. If you click Accept, a small cookie is stored in your browser to remember your preference and avoid showing the banner again on future visits. If you click Decline, no preference cookie is saved.

As analytics tools are not currently installed on this website, the only cookie in use is the consent preference cookie described above.

You can clear cookies at any time through your browser settings. This will reset your cookie consent preference and the banner will reappear on your next visit.

8. Website content and images

All text on this website was written by or for Beyond the Kasbah. All photographs were provided by the owner or are confirmed approved images. No stock photography from unrelated sources is used. The content on this site is the property of Beyond the Kasbah and may not be reproduced without permission.

9. Third-party services

This website connects to or uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

  • Google Fonts — used to load the Cormorant Garamond and Jost typefaces. Google Fonts requests may log your IP address.
  • WhatsApp (Meta) — used for journey enquiries and communication. Subject to Meta's privacy policy.
  • Web hosting — this site is hosted on a third-party server. Your visit may be logged by that provider as part of normal server operation.
  • Email hosting — emails sent to hello@beyondthekasbah.com are handled by a third-party email provider. We do not use your email for marketing.

10. Data retention

We keep enquiry and booking correspondence as long as it is needed for the journey and for a reasonable period afterwards. Enquiries that did not lead to a booking may be kept for reference or follow-up for up to 12 months, after which they are deleted or archived. If you have booked a journey with us, we may keep records of the correspondence longer for accounting or dispute purposes.

11. Your rights

You have the right to ask what information we hold about you, to correct inaccurate information, and to ask us to delete it. To exercise any of these, contact us directly — details below.

We are a small, owner-operated business in Morocco. We are not a data processor operating under EU GDPR or UK GDPR in a formal corporate sense, but we treat your information with care and will respond to reasonable requests promptly.
